It’s worth mentioning that both new microphone modes have an API that third-party developers can adopt and implement in their apps. The person on the other end of the call will be able to hear an amplified version of what’s happening in the background. The tougher work was building an algorithm that detects the person and separates them from their backgrounds. It wouldn’t require the Cupertino tech giant a lot of extra resources to implement this feature.
